How to View Instagram Stories Anonymously

Instagram shows people exactly who viewed their story. If you'd rather watch without landing on that list, here's how anonymous story viewing works.

Why your name shows up

When you watch a story while logged in, Instagram logs your view and displays it to the poster. There's no built-in way to turn that off from inside the app.

How to watch stories anonymously

• Open InstaLurk and search the public username.
• Browse their Highlights from the viewer (Highlights remain available; active 24-hour stories are not fetched).
• Watch as many highlight items as you like; your view is never registered.
• Download supported media to keep it (plan limits apply).

Will they ever know?

No. Because the request never comes from your account, your view is never recorded and no notification is sent. You stay completely off the viewer list.

It's the simplest way to keep up with someone's stories without announcing it.
